Puketahuna Fencing Enterprise

This project was initiated in 2018 by seven taiohi Māori to prevent wild cattle from stomping, trampling and polluting the Puketahuna Wetlands. Supported by the Pākirikiri Wānanga six students are completing the fence this year. There is approximately 400m of fence with about half to complete. With support from Whanau Arua The Puketahuna Trust donated the wetland to the taiohi to restore the water quality and biodiversity of the puna and surrounding ngahere.
