Sophia Manneville- Kaiako Te Tai Tokerau

Sophia is fueled by a deep commitment to marine conservation. She believes in the transformative power of education and exploration to inspire positive change. From teaching the art of diving to capturing the ocean's stories through her lens, She is on a mission to raise awareness about marine ecosystems and drive meaningful conservation efforts.

Sophia has 7 years experience as a SCUBA and Freediving instructor. She knows that once people connect immersively with the ocean, they are far more likely to care for it. She also holds a BA in Marine and Natural History Photography, combining her passion for creativity with an in-depth understanding of the underwater world.

When it's too rough for diving, Sophia surfs. For her surfing is not just a sport, it's a way of being and thinking that is in tune with nature. Sitting just behind the break gives the contrast of serenity of calm waters whilst still hearing the power of the waves crashing behind you. The contrast of those two elements can put us in a meditative state that humbles and makes us thankful to be alive.
